I’ve been under a bit of deadline pressure this week on top of scurrying around with surgeon and specialist appointments (my jaw is spiteful and determined to send us broke, but more on that another day), so I apologise for any absence that may have been felt.
Just quickly though, it’s exciting to be able to say that as of term three I’ll be a cafe poet in residence at the Swipers Gully Vineyard and Restaurant. This is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time and was actually accepted elsewhere in 2010 but circumstances didn’t come to pass and I didn’t get to begin my tenure. I’m really happy to be up there as it’s in a gorgeous part of the area where I live.
See?

Thanks to Swipers Gully for having me and Australian Poetry for this terrific initiative.

Thank you, V x
Congratulations and have fun with it! I believe further congratulations are in order as I just saw you as a contributing blogger for iVillage – woohoo!
LOL – yes, Tracey, another thing I’ve not had time to formally announce (I will though!). And thank you! x

Thank you! x
Congrats, Karen! That sounds fantastic. A quick question: Do you get free vino in your capacity as poet in residence? ‘Cause that’d be a great deal.
No vino – but free coffee!!
ps. I was thinking about you on the train the other day, hope you’re keeping well x
Hey, free coffee’s pretty fantastic, too.
And thanks; I’m keeping. Still alive and kicking, so that’s something. And who doesn’t love riding on trains?
That’s awesome, Karen. I would love to do something like this one day, I am increasingly feeling it with poetry.
