My sister gave Ish to Keira for Christmas and I confess it sat on the shelf for a while before we had a chance to get to it – and when we did I was sorry we hadn’t sooner. Ish is a simple story about celebrating creativity, about letting go of perceptions of ‘perfection’ and just learning to love being in a moment. This is something I wrestle with regularly; I sit down to write and, while the words are there, pressing against my forehead, I often tense up because I have the thought that they’re not going to come out right. I’m afraid my efforts will only end up being pointless and mediocre. Now I try to remember to remind myself if they’re only ‘..ish’ – well, then that’s okay too. It’s a start. Things can be changed. You are still creating. It’s all worth it, and that’s an important message for adults and children alike.
Big Thumbs Up.
