Congratulations first of all to Nerida who won the Vicks thermometer on Wednesday. She’s been reading Miscmum for a long time
Rachel Hills recently asked me to write a guest post about my experiences with children’s publishing – and here it is!
Finally, today, I sent this off to the printers:

Right now, I’m feeling all sorts of emotions: relief, mostly. And nervous expectation. It’s been a hard, hard month. This, together with Keira’s first month of school and the sadness surrounding dad’s anniversary, sometimes I’ve felt like the last pin left on the bowling alley, rocking about, just before it drops.
That said, I can’t wait until I get the galley proof in my hands, and then again the final product in a few weeks. The time between will be enough to do some more jobs that need doing, as well a chance to catch my breath. Also, and I can’t stress this enough, my designer/typesetter has been marvellously patient with me. Thanks, A x
Do you like the cover? The photograph is by the gorgeous Tiffany. You might note the juxtaposition of the computer and the pen? What does it all mean?
You’ll have to read the book (well, my Introduction) to find out …

yay! That’s very exciting. Will i be able to buy it from the Miscellaneous press site?
Congratulations!!! Quite an achievement to get this done with everything else on your plate. And the cover is great, and yes I did pick up on the contrast between the pen and the keyboard. I look forward to figuring out the significance of this. (BTW – Hi, I’m Leiani from Perth. Long time reader, silent on the comments – until now that is!)
I love the cover. I think it’s just perfect!
And I think this book is going to be a great way to clog up my google reader with all the new blogs
Shelly – Yes, you can already PRE-ORDER over there
Leiani – Thank you – hi! If you read, I hope you like it
Stitch Sista – yes, indeed, it has already done the same for me!
Australian blog writing. A very interesting subject!
Ooo how exciting! Fab front cover pic! Can’t wait to get reading!
Love that front cover! heh heh.
So exciting. I can’t wait for it to be released.
Thanks Karen! I received the thermometer in the post yesterday, and had fun playing with it last night.
