What I’m reading this week

My reading pile is getting smaller and smaller, isn’t it? This week I’m focusing on this above book, the O. Henry Prize Stories from 2003. I deliberately sought it out this past weekend because it contains one of my favourite – if not the favourite – short stories ever, ‘The Thing in the Forest’ by A.S. Byatt.

If I’m being honest I’ll also admit I borrowed Marilynne Robinson’s Home but I’m not sure if I’ll get around to it.

Remember everyone submissions are open for Miscellaneous Voices: Australian Web Writing 2009. If you don’t think you’re ‘good’ enough or not ‘established’ enough or don’t have the right writing credentials (whatever that may mean!) to submit, I implore you to stop those voices in your head, read the guidelines, and do it anyway. And if you’re still too shy, could I ask a favour, please?

If you’re a blogger, could you help spread the word about the project, please? Many fantastic, supportive Twitter pals have already started that process, but if you could help keep up that momentum I would really appreciate it.

And thanks to you all for your support – via comments or other means – to Monday’s post. I’ll admit, I’ve had a bit of a rough week (culminating in a realisation I’ve mucked up some dates for a local community group I’m President of and, no, I’m not saying which one. Got to keep some secrets ;)  So I’ve got to fix that up as best as I can today.)

Kisses!

If your reading pile is getting smaller, it means you’re getting through them at last.
