Yesterday we went away on one of our few spontaneous family outings together. Of course I say the word “spontaneous” loosely, for as anyone knows who’s gone to the snow there is a lot of gear and oh are we wearing enough layers? talk. But we were up at Lake Mountain a little before 9.30am, raring to toboggan!
Well, Riley wasn’t. No, he did not like his gloves and when he took them off discovered he did not like the cold and wet any better. So he sulked inside, until he had a little snack.
And look what a little blood sugar spike can do:
Yes, in the end he was the one who needed prising off the slopes while Keira skulked at my side asking, can we go home yet? In her defence, her socks were wet and it would’ve been uncomfortable.
Here are the obligatory action shots:
All in all an enjoyable – but thoroughly tiring – day.

Looks like fun, great photos
Looks like a fun day but as I’m allergic to the cold I’ll let you entertain me with your snow visits
Oh yes, snow. I reckon would be great fun to be the kid and let mum and dad do all the work.
But as a parent, it’s bloody exhausting!
Must admit though, once you’re home, unpacked and fed you realise it’s a thoroughly good type of exhausted!
Awww….awesome! I wish I lived close enough to the snow to make a day trip. Looks like fun.
He looks like he enjoys the snow.
Wonderful! My daughter is five and has been asking to touch and see snow for the last 3 years *sigh*
ooh looks like a great trip…
I promised my girls a trip to the snow this year… but unless it snows on our near by Mountain (which is looking less and less likly) it won’t happen. The idea of finding enough warm, waterproof clothes for all of us is too scary to contemplate!
Looks like a lot of fun. Like Kate we have also promised a day trip to the snow this year. Just need to find a weekend to fit it in!
This looks awesome! I’ve been pondering taking our 2 year old to Lake mountain and I think you’ve just motivated me to do it!
