Emerging Writers’ Festival here I come!

In a few short hours I will be bidding my family adieu for the Emerging Writers’ Festival.

What am I doing again, you ask?

In this age of electronic enlightenment there are so many ways for writers to get their work read, as well as promoting themselves as a writer. We look at new ways of getting your words out, as well as at how the electronic world could work in getting your traditional work read more.

Over forty stall holders will be selling everything from posters to mooks, from zines to literary journals…This is your chance to get the latest issue of a favourite or discover something completely new; an opportunity to network and meet, to trade, to buy and browse the work of some of Australia’s best zinesters, independent publishers and wordsmiths all together in one atrium.

In between attending other sessions I will be holed up in my hotel room trying to get some work done.  Then in the evenings I’ve got some serious parties and partying events with friends to go to!

Leaving my family alone for two days will be difficult – haven’t done so before. (Dad dying doesn’t count.) But I am also looking forward to some breathing room, some solo-time, the ‘me’ time I’ve been prattling on about lately.

I have cooked meals in advance for my family. I do not expect a bite to be eaten.

If I have a chance to post over the weekend, I will. Otherwise, see ya!
