Movie Hire Selection for Third Week in March

March 19, 2009

So I made a resolution to watch more movies – ‘good’ movies, that is. I haven’t rented/hired any lately, but the other day when I was in the library it must’ve been my lucky day as the shelves were full of DVDs. So I grabbed a bundle. All for free! Yippee.

Let’s see, what did I get?

Movie rentals for march

I broke my rule of hiring movies I’ve seen before (because, let’s face it, who on earth can only watch Bad Santa once? I mean really?) I’ve not seen four of the seven (The Trial, Finding Neverland, Elizabeth: The Golden Age, and The Passion of the Christ) so I suppose I’ve done okay.

Looks like I have some busy nights in front of me!

What have you seen? Which would you recommend?

Finding Neverland is a brilliant film – beautifully acted and very moving. Tissues at the ready for the ending!

Have you seen the Saint with Val Kilmer. We love it.

You may think less of me but….another favourite although possibly too girly for some is “Ever After”.

Unfortunately, I must confess that I have not seen a one of these movies. You’re on your own, my dear.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age is definately the best. The Passion Of The Christ might be tough to get through, as it’s so gory.

Thank you, you have just reminded me of how much I love Finding Neverland. It was the first movie I went out to see (almost date-like) after having kids. It is an amazing movie and thinking about it reminds me of a fantastic night out. I think I may have to hire it too.

I have seen everything except Team America, Elizabeth & the Trial…
Personally I would only recommend The Passion of the Christ (from those that I have seen), but then even though I’ve been labelled ‘Rennie Collins” by my partner that doesn’t mean I am an expert on movies…
I guess until you see them for yourself you won’t know if you like them will you – everyones taste is different! Let me know what Elizabeth is like – I would like to see it myself.

Finding Neverland is great. The Passion i think you will have trouble getting through.
Team America has a very funny ‘love’ scene in it…

That is quite an ecletic selection there. What a great library collection you have :)
I saw the Passion at the movies and had my eyes covered for 75% of it. Loved Neverland. Underwhelmed by Elizabeth. Minority Report was cool – but made me flinch in places. Team America will have you singing the theme song for months to come…

Team America and Minority Report are the only ones I’ve seen. Team America was very funny first time round, and I agree with Shelly about the ‘love’ scene. Minority Report was ok, nothing special.

Team America – right, I shall have to persist with this because I turned it off after 25 mins! (Not in the mood, I think)

The trial – was naughty and skipped bits, but it was good. I love orson welles though.

Finding Neverland is up next, I think, from the responses! Looking forward to it :)
