So my period is two weeks late.
Yep.
It’s not that, either. I know what you’re thinking.
At least, I don’t think so. My period has only ever been late twice in my life, so, um, the data is pointing in KNOCKED – UP’s direction but no no no.
I say this with relative confidence because in my other pregnancies, at two weeks past I was already nauseous and my boobs were terribly sore.
So what I’m feeling at the moment is strange. Last week, it was all about to happen. Carb cravings, that achy band of pain across my lower back and lower stomach; the kind that reminds me of early labour. I went out on my daily business with supplies tucked into my handbag ‘just in case’ – and nothing. The cramps continued – still are – but nothing else. The Premenstrual Bitch within also showed up at the same time, but now is back in hibernation.
{SHE IS?! asks my husband, incredulously.}
It is probably all stress related. I’m not running out to buy a pregnancy test – yet.
Still, it is annoying. I’m also reminded again of how much I take my body for granted. I realise just how lucky I am to have a routine cycle. I think of all those other women out there with endometriosis and other gynaecological issues who go through this every month. It must be maddening. I can’t even imagine.
My husband – supporting rock that he is – has offered this hypothesis: it’s because you’re getting older.
That’s his answer to anything that health related, really.
So, I’ll continue to wait. I’m just not sure for how long!

The body does tend to change a little as we go on. Let’s see what happens.

Having played the Changing Wombs game and had the little sucker ripped out, squealing and screaming, the monthly horrors are but a bad memory these days. BLISS!

Going by my experience (but then I am quite some bit older and already entering something they call ‘peri’ menopausal land) then it will be late, but then start right on the day you least, least, LEAST want it to start. (Like a 500km/20hour fundraising cycling event.)
(Frankly, I don’t think your dearly beloved is entitled to be blaming ‘age’ for another ten years at least! Because by the time you’re 45 (err.. 46…), and he actually finally has a point, you’ll be ready to STRANGLE him!!)

Last night I did this big post to reply to all of you but it ate it and I don’t have the time to do it again right now. do’h. sorry.
Still nothing, though. Just in case you wanted an update!
First off love your blog.
This happened to me after I finished nursing, so sweats started happening major psychotic mood swings. ( I think my husband said he for sure saw my head to a full 360 and I did not doubt him.) Went to my doctor and ruled out pregnancy, the tests came back and I was pre-freaking menopausal, and yes I was kind of happy about it, but my doctor wasn’t (what does he know?), put me back on the pill to raise my estrogen levels back up and to get me out of the pre-menopausal state as felt I was too young to be going through it that early. I was happy to say good-bye to that each month, but now after taking the pill I am back to being regular…….me and the other crappy thing that happens each month.
