Weird search engine searches – are you guilty, too?

January 13, 2008

We all talk about the popular searches which bring people to our blogs; just ’cause I think its funny, here’s a sample of mine just in the past few days:

  • ‘difference between protestants and catholics’
  • ‘wooden thomas the tank engine’
  • ‘chatterbox margaret wild’
  • ‘penis banjo’ (again?!)
  • ‘dora birthday cake’ (the second all-time query; right behind anything to do with eating disorders)

But as I began researching the article I was writing last month, I thought I remembered a little anecdote about how Oracles/Soothsayers in Ancient Times would study fecal matter in order to divine some sort of prophecy. Like tea leaves, hardcore. So, there I am typing away in Google, “Future Predict Faeces” “Can you predict?” “Ancient Divination” and I realised that on the other end of these searches, these people who look up there own stats (on webpages completely unrelated to the subject, so Lord knows how I ended up there) and go, “Who the hell is this person?!”

Uh – it’s me. Sorry!

What’s the weirdest search engine query you’ve done?

Well, just for you, I checked out the weirdest query I’ve typed into Google. (And for me, I limited this to searches this year.) The best contenders:
gauplattlerhosen
norton bomb sight hair
stormberger

I think those are the best.
