My son – the portable mannequin

November 26, 2007

Picture a lazy Sunday afternoon. I walk past my daughter’s bedroom, where I hear the sound of devious giggles emanating: hers, and my husband’s. Riley had been missing for a while.

 Hmmm…….this needed investigating.

So I walk in to see my husband pulling a pink, fake-angora jumper over my son’s shoulders, and my daughter pulling a skirt up over her brother’s legs.

“Oh, gosh!” I say. “What are you doing?! Don’t you know that he looks much better in dresses?!”

Observe!

[Doesn't he look enthused?!]

I have visions of this memory making its way into a therapy session of his some thirty or so years from now.

Come on – who else has done something similar? ‘Fess up!

I remember dressing my little brother up in a dress, makeup and everything when he was about 4. He wouldn’t let me take a photo though. Pity.

Ah! I didn’t think I was the only one! I only dressed up my (male) cat when I was little…

Poor Riley. I sympathise with his pain, and the expression of frustration on his face…

Awww….your children are so gorgeous (if only I knew how to spell that word!). I used to do that to my younger brother…..he was a little older than that though and a willing participant. LOL. Just the other day my DS (almost 10) willingly dressed up in girly stuff – cracked me up! I am learning the can-can on the piano and he’s my “can can girl”. LOL. It’s great to have a bit of fun. :-)

I’ve only recently discovered your blog and added you to my bloglines reader. :-)

My brother brought a girl home on the weekend (oooooh, just asking for trouble!!) and we brought out the old dressed-in-sisters-school-dress-with-makeup-and-ribbons for her to see what she was in for.

Lost it’s impact cause he is in the Navy and she has seen him dressed much much worse!

Oh yes!
My girls dress Noah up all the time and change his name to Norah.
Maddy says he is just a girl with a spout! LOL

He likes jewellery, make up and handbags too! Should I be worried?????

Oh yes, we did a lot of dressing my brother up – and putting makeup on him. Helped him to become the macho ex-footballer axeman that he is today!

Now he has 2 older daughters and a son, and we are just waiting for history to repeat…

I’m actually quite shocked that your husband participated in that behavior. My husband would have had a FIT and would never have done that to either of his sons.

Thanks for participating in the December 3, 2007, edition of the Carnival of Family Life, hosted this week at http://www.imaginif.com.au!!
