No, really, I didn’t want to be abused today, but it must’ve been in my horoscope or something…

October 12, 2007

Disclaimer: I am pre-menstrual.

Still, I think anyone would be aggravated at the following:

I forgot to pre-pay my exit ticket at a car-park in the city today. As I dashed out of the car, swearing, because the kids were going psycho in the backseat, the car behind me lets out a frustrated “TOOT!” of the horn. Fine, okay, I deserved that. I paid with the help of an elderly attendant, who hushed my whimpering as the car still proceeded to beep in my absence (“Don’t worry about them, dear”). I was gone 20 seconds. By the time I got back, the woman behind me had gotten out of the car and was yelling abuse:

“You selfish bitch! Who do you think you f***n are?”

I ducked my head, and drove off – very frightened!

Now, I tell you, this has really clouded my day. I really don’t think I am a selfish you-know-what. In fact, I was in the city to pick up my father who’d just arrived on the V-Line train.

Please, stroke my wounded soul. Offer me hugs. Sing me a lullaby to ease the sting.
:(

You seriously don’t want to hear me sing.. but I’ll offer ((hugs)).
Reminds me of a short film I saw – I think it might have been a Tropfest entry – about road rage. This guy makes a mistake, and another guy goes psycho with road rage, and follows him. The original guy pulls over, and just sobs and sobs over the steering wheel. “I just made a mistake” he says… The pursuer then feels really bad! Where they have stopped, they are blocking the road, but this long line of people waiting end up being very understanding.

Your experience is a timely reminder.. I don’t know about you, but I know I’ve sat in a car swearing about someone doing something in front of me. I never cross the line into abusing someone, that’s for sure. Something within my subconscious, perhaps, always reminds me that most likely the ‘target’ person has made a mistake. Unfortunately there are people out there that don’t have that little voice in their head reminding them that they’re human too.

Oh, I know T…..do you know how spooky that is, because this afternoon, I got frustrated at a driver who made a boo-boo in front of me, and I thought “you know, that’s probably karma coming back at me” (if thats how it works!)
V – oh, thank you :)

Oh that would ruin my day, too! I am not a confrontational person, and I would have been so red faced! I’ve grown my hair out now so people can’t see how burning red my ears get when I am on the spot! :P

It’s a new day. Have a calgon moment!

That would definitely sour my whole day :( . That or the unkind, immature things I’d probably shout back.

Wait, didn’t I just stop by yesterday? Holy redesign! It’s wonderful!!

Oh dear! Poor you! You just have to remember Road Karma. That horrible person will NOT get a rock star park when she next needs to, whereas you will!

I always figure these people have to live with themselves, and I don’t, so I have the better deal of the two of us. I feel sorry for them, because there has to be some pretty crappy stuff going on in a person’s life for them to reach the boiling point so easily. It’s not about you — it’s about them.
